Chose a $45 power trowel blade over the $120 brand, first slab was a learning curve

Been running the same worn blades for so long I forgot what a fresh set feels like, so I grabbed a cheap 36 inch set from the supply house in Phoenix last Tuesday. They spun up fine but the burnishing finish came out patchy on my garage pour, took me an extra pass with a hand float to fix it. Anyone else find that cheaper blades just need more babysitting or did I get a bad batch?

...which is exactly what I did for about forty five minutes on my buddy's driveway last weekend, ha. I grabbed the same kind of deal you did, some off-brand 42 incher, and yeah the learning curve is real. First pass looked like a cow licked it, patchy spots all over, and I swore at it louder than my old worn out brand ever made me. Honestly though, I think cheap blades just spin at a different vibe, you gotta slow down your walk and let them work, not force it like you do with the good stuff. By the third slab it was almost decent, but my knees and my back were begging me to just buy the nicer ones next time. So no, I don't think you got a bad batch, I just think they punish you for being lazy like me.
