TIL a bus driver in Seattle calls out the next two stops, not just one
I was on the 7:15 a.m. Route 40 yesterday when I heard the driver say, 'Next stop, 3rd and Pine, then 4th and Pike.' It lets you get ready way sooner if you're getting off at the second one. Do other cities do this, or is it just a local thing?

Ever think announcing two stops just makes the first announcement pointless?

Actually no, hall.nora, it's the opposite. The first one is a heads up so you can start getting ready. The second one is your final call before the doors open. If they only said it once right as the doors opened, half the people would miss their stop.

Read an article once that said the double announcement is actually a proven method to cut down on missed stops. It works, hall.nora! The first one gets your attention, the second one makes sure you move.
