The bus driver on the 22 route told me to stop standing near the back door, and it finally clicked
I ride the 22 into downtown every morning and always plant myself by the back door so I can hop off fast, but last Tuesday the driver, a guy named Reggie who has been on that route forever, told me the door sensor gets tripped when people lean on the pole. He said it adds about 45 seconds to every stop when the light flashes and he has to check it, which does not sound like much until you add up 12 stops. Does anyone else have a driver who drops little tips like that, or am I just lucky on this route?

Wait, 45 seconds at every stop? That math is wild. Twelve stops means you're losing like 9 minutes of your life every single morning just because somebody leans on a pole. Reggie is out here dropping free knowledge and saving the whole bus a whole commute worth of time. Most drivers just yell at you and move on, so getting the actual reason is pretty rare.
