That "fast lane" shortcut on the 405 backed me up 40 minutes this morning
I saw a gap in traffic by the Sepulveda off-ramp and took the express lane like everyone online suggests. Turns out it merges back into regular traffic right before a bottleneck at LAX, so I sat there while the main lanes crawled past me. My 35 minute drive turned into 75 minutes and I missed the 8:15 train by two minutes. Has anyone else tried one of those GPS-detected shortcuts and gotten burned worse than just staying put?

Wait, did the GPS actually reroute you through the express lane, or did you pick it yourself after seeing the gap in traffic? Because that matters a lot for whether the app is to blame or if it was just a bad call in the moment. The ones that factor in real-time merge delays usually avoid that trap, so what app were you using?
