Rant: The day my bus pass reader glitch ate my whole morning
My bus card wouldn't scan yesterday on the 8:05 to downtown. The driver said to just tap it again, but the machine kept beeping red. I had to get off, go to the transit center kiosk, and wait in a line of 8 people to get a new card loaded. What should have been a 40 minute ride turned into a 2 hour ordeal. Do you think drivers should be able to issue a temp pass for tech failures like this?

Happened to mine too. Had to call the bank and get a new one sent out.

My old transit card did that exact red beep thing three times last month. It feels like everything from card readers to self-checkouts is just getting less reliable. John_singh is right about the bank card hassle too, it's the same kind of broken system. Drivers should totally have a stack of one-ride paper passes for when their own machine fails, it's common sense. We keep adding more tech but the basic stuff falls apart.
