My bus driver took a detour through a neighborhood I'd never seen before
We were stuck in gridlock on the usual route downtown, and the driver announced he was taking an alternate path through the Westview subdivision. It was actually a really pretty area with old trees and quiet streets, and we got to the station only five minutes later than usual. Has anyone else's driver done something like that to beat traffic?

Westview has those big oak trees, right? Did your driver seem to know the neighborhood well, like he'd done it before, or was it more of a spur-of-the-moment guess?

Mine does that all the time when the highway's backed up.

Yo, honestly I saw this article just yesterday about how GPS apps are basically guessing half the time on these neighborhood shortcuts. Ngl, it's wild how Waze or Google Maps will just throw you into some random side street thinking you're saving 2 minutes, but really you're just annoying everyone who lives there. I read that some drivers follow it blindly even when the road's clearly not meant for through traffic. Tbh, it's like the app doesn't know the difference between a real bypass and someone's driveway.
