Hot take: I thought getting on the train last was a bad idea

For months, I'd rush to be first on my evening train from downtown to get a seat. Last Tuesday, I was stuck at the back of the crowd and ended up in the very last car. It was almost empty and way quieter than the packed middle cars I usually fight for. I've done it every day since and my trip home is so much calmer. Has anyone else found a better spot by just changing where they board?

So the secret to a quiet train is just being late?

Honestly, being late is my only real strategy. I sprint onto the last car, sweaty and out of breath, and by then the quiet people have already claimed all the good seats. So I just stand there panting, surrounded by silence I didn't earn. It's less a secret and more a personal failure that works out sometimes.

More like finding the right spot, not being late.
