Had to choose between the express bus and the local this morning

The express was right on time but packed like sardines, and the local was late but almost empty. I gambled on the local because I had a coffee in hand and didn't want to wear it, and ended up standing for 20 extra minutes when the driver hit every single red light on Broadway. Has anyone else picked the wrong bus and regretted it immediately?

oh man, you might want to double check which bus you were actually on because that local probably wasn't even a Broadway bus. Broadway has priority signals downtown so drivers don't hit every red light like that, it's actually the 14th Street buses that get stuck at every single light. I learned this the hard way too after moving last year and taking the wrong route for like two weeks straight. At least you had coffee to keep you company while you waited, I just had my regrets and a dead phone battery.

Hang on, I gotta push back on the Broadway signal priority thing because my commute is on the 6 bus on Broadway and I swear the driver hits every single red light from 72nd down to Canal, lol. Last Tuesday alone I counted like 7 stops where we just sat there for 45 seconds each at a green light that wouldn't turn until a cop car went through. I actually sat next to a bus driver at a diner last month and @rosek44 is close but I think the priority signals only work for the limited express routes, not the locals, so if you're on the 6 or 7 you're still cooked. Maybe your bus was just running a weird weekend schedule though, that messes everything up.
