Bus driver remembered my stop after I said thanks one time

There's this one driver on the 42 route out of Portland who I've had maybe 4 times over the last 6 months. I always say thanks when I get off, nothing special. Then last Tuesday it's raining sideways and I'm running late, and when I get on he just nods and says 'your usual stop at 15th and Burnside, right?' I was so surprised I almost forgot to tap my card. He even waited an extra 2 seconds for me to grab a seat before pulling off. Small thing but it made my whole day. Has anyone else had a bus driver actually remember them like that?

Honestly that happens more than people think if you're a regular. Those drivers run the same routes for years and they start recognizing faces and patterns. Tbh the key is just being polite and consistent, a simple 'hey thanks' or a nod goes a long way with them. Ngl I've had drivers save me a seat or call out my stop ahead of time after I did that for a few weeks in a row. A little respect gets you way further than you'd expect.

You know what's funny @kais67, I still remember the time I thanked a driver once and he literally stopped the bus to chat with me for a solid minute while everyone else waited. I felt so awkward cause I'm like "bro I just said thanks" not "adopt me as your grandchild." But honestly it works both ways. I've been the girl who accidentally made eye contact with the driver after a long day and just gave a weak nod and he still remembered my stop for months. Shows how little effort it takes from us but they notice everything. I'm not saying be fake but being consistently nice is basically free and it pays off more than people realize.
