That neighborhood watch group I thought was just busybodies actually caught someone

I rolled my eyes when the flyer showed up about starting a block watch on Maple Street. Thought it would be a bunch of nosy neighbors gossiping. Then last Tuesday, Mrs. Hendricks spotted a guy checking car doors at 3am and called it in before he could get into my neighbor's truck. Has anyone else had a similar experience with community groups like this?

Totally agree, our neighborhood watch was the same way until Mr. Patterson caught those kids trying to steal lawnmowers out of garages (the ones people leave cracked open in summer). Now I feel kind of bad for rolling my eyes at the sign-up sheet, it ended up being the best thing we did all year. One good catch changes everything about how you see those groups.

Sounds like a lucky break but I still think most of these groups are just busybodies.
