PSA: our food pantry volunteer lead said my sorting method made twice the work
Two years of sorting cans by brand at the First Baptist pantry on Vine, and nobody ever said a word until Dana pulled me aside in March and asked why the peanut butter wasn't with the peanut butter. She was right, I'd been splitting stuff into categories only I understood, and the next crew couldn't find anything. Now it's all by meal type and labeled, but part of me wonders if we lost something by making it so rigid. So which is it, should a pantry sort for the volunteers or for the families shopping, and how do you settle that when both sides have a real point?
