Our town's flood last month showed me how bad our local help groups are at talking to each other.
I was at the community center helping sort donations. The food bank had too much bread, but the shelter down the street had none, and nobody was calling each other. We wasted three hours moving stuff that could have been a five minute phone call. Now I think every town needs one person just to connect the dots between groups during a crisis. How does your area handle this kind of mess?

Yeah, the radio thing is a common problem. We got lucky because our church basement became a central spot where all the group leaders just had to show up in person.

Wait, three hours moving bread around? That's crazy. You'd think in a flood someone would just pick up a phone. My town tried a shared radio channel for the big groups during storms, but half of them never turned their radios on. It's like herding cats when everyone's stressed.
