Just realized that neighborhood watch app was a waste of my time

I signed up for Nextdoor's neighborhood watch feature back in March thinking it would actually help catch the guy stealing packages off porches around here. All I got was daily posts about someone's lost cat and people arguing about leaves blowing into yards. Three months of notifications and zero actual help on the thefts. Anyone else ditch these apps and just talk to your neighbors directly instead?

Did you at least find the lost cat? I joined one of those apps and spent two weeks trying to figure out if the guy with the suspicious van was actually just my neighbor's weird cousin.

Ha! @mark_cooper that van thing hits way too close to home. I spent a month tracking my neighbor's "new friend" through a lost pet site only to find out he was her brother visiting from out of town. The app was great for finding my dog but terrible for my suspicious neighbor radar.
