Found a stat that changed how I see volunteering

I was looking up food bank numbers last night. Turns out 1 in 5 kids in my county faces food insecurity. That shocked me. One side says we need more large food drives to fix this. The other side says small weekly donations work better because big drives create waste. I used to think big drives were the answer. Now I'm not so sure. Which approach actually helps more in your experience?

Big drives just make folks feel good while the actual food rots in a warehouse somewhere.

Oh man, it's like that canned food drive at my kid's school last year. Everyone brought in these giant bags of stuff, patting themselves on the back, and then I found out the local pantry had to throw away half of it because the expiration dates were from three years ago. So the real win is making ourselves feel generous while the beans turn into little science experiments in some dusty corner. Classic.
