Walk-in cooler alarm went off at 2am and I didn't call anyone

I was closing up the kitchen in Austin last Tuesday when the temp alarm started screaming - the compressor was frozen solid from a dirty coil. Instead of waking the owner, I spent 90 minutes scraping ice and hitting it with a heat gun, got it down to 38 degrees by morning.

Used to think he was crazy for not calling it in, but after reading this I get it. Sometimes you just gotta handle the problem yourself and hope for the best.

Did a buddy of mine take out a wasp nest with a barbecue lighter and it worked out fine?
