TIL we went through 12,000 plates in our first 6 months of business

I had no idea how many dishes we'd actually go through. When I planned the budget I figured maybe 3,000 to start. The math hit me hard when I saw the invoice from our supplier. At 38 cents a plate that adds up fast. Has anyone else been blindsided by their actual numbers on basic supplies like plates or cups?

38 cents each and you burned through 12,000 of them, what was the biggest monthly spike or was it pretty steady from day one?

Used to think bulk buys were dumb but you proved me wrong on that one, what changed your mind to make the first order?

Haven't you ever gotten stuck with a bunch of stuff that ended up being a waste of space? I bought a giant case of those cheap hand sanitizer bottles once, figured I'd use them for the gym bag and car. Ended up giving half away because the smell was just too strong for me. Bulk buys work great if you know for sure you'll use every single one, but if your taste changes or the product gets tweaked, you're just sitting on a pile of regret. I'd rather pay a little more per unit and not have to store a mini warehouse in my closet.
