That ventless hood debate in my kitchen in Atlanta
My buddy who runs a food truck told me I was wasting money on a ducted hood system for my new place. He swore ventless hoods work just as good and save thousands. But after 6 months of dealing with grease buildup and the fire inspector almost shutting me down, I'm thinking he was dead wrong. Anyone else had to choose between ventless and ducted and regret your call?

Have you checked what your home insurance says about ventless hoods? My neighbor in Texas had her claim denied after a kitchen fire because her ventless setup didn't meet the fire code for attached homes. It's one of those things nobody thinks about until it's too late.

Man, that's wild! I can't believe an insurance company would deny a claim just because of a ventless hood. I thought those things were supposed to be safe for apartments and attached homes. It honestly sounds like they're just looking for any excuse to not pay out, which is just wrong. My buddy in Florida had a similar thing happen with his gas range and a recirculating hood, and it cost him thousands out of pocket. I guess you really gotta read the fine print on your policy before you even think about buying one of those. Makes me want to double check my own setup tonight.
