Ratted out my old dishwasher after it failed inspection last week

I've been running my place in Portland for about 4 years now with a used Hobart that I swear was bulletproof... but the health inspector caught lime scale buildup in the wash arm nozzles and flagged it. Spent $300 on a deep clean kit and new seals but the temp gauge is still off by 8 degrees. Has anyone else had luck rebuilding one of these or am I just delaying the inevitable replacement?

Did you try just telling the dishwasher it's getting replaced and see if that scares it straight? I swear these old Hobarts have a sixth sense for when you're about to give up on them - mine started working perfectly the day after the replacement arrived in the driveway. For what it's worth I had a similar temp issue and it turned out to be the thermostat probe just needed a good descaling, not the whole machine. But 8 degrees off is pretty far gone, you might be better off putting that rebuild money toward something newer.

8 degrees off is honestly impressive for a Hobart, those things usually fail all at once or not at all. Did you check the high limit switch before you gave up on it, or did you just skip straight to thinking it needs a full rebuild?
