Just realized our kitchen's energy bill dropped by 18% after switching to induction.

We replaced our old gas range with a new induction cooktop about 8 months ago in our Portland bistro. The difference in heat control and how fast water boils is huge, but the real shock was seeing the utility statement. Has anyone else made this switch and noticed a bigger drop than expected?

Honestly, the noise difference was what got me. Went from that constant gas hum and whoosh to just... quiet. You don't realize how much background sound it adds until it's gone. My old dog used to hate being in the kitchen during dinner service, and now he just naps in the corner. The energy savings were a nice bonus, but the peace and quiet is what I'd pay for again.

Watched my friend's whole kitchen vibe change after their switch. They run a small place up in Seattle and kept talking about the heat control, just like you said. But what got me was how they described the quiet, totally echoes what @hayden_rivera said about the noise. My friend said his cooks can actually hear each other call out orders now, and the summer kitchen doesn't feel like a furnace anymore. They didn't even check the bills for months, so the savings just felt like a random gift when it finally showed up.

Random gift" savings? Idk, sounds a bit too good to be true.
