Found a way to cut our walk-in freezer defrost time by half

Our old system in the Portland location took almost 4 hours to fully defrost, killing our prep schedule. I started running a box fan on a low setting pointed at the coils during the cycle, and it dropped the time down to under 2 hours. Has anyone else tried something like this, or is there a better method you'd recommend?

Honestly, I'm just impressed I remembered to start the defrost cycle at all. My big brain move was using a hair dryer once, which worked great for five minutes until I realized I'd have to stand there holding it. The fan trick is a lifesaver. I've also heard of people using those little ceramic personal heaters on a stool, but that still sketches me out a bit.

Our walk-in in Tacoma had the same 4-hour defrost problem. We tried the fan trick but found a small space heater on a low, safe setting worked even faster. Just make sure it's one with a tip-over switch and keep it well away from any water. Dropped our total time to about 90 minutes.

tip-over switch" was smart, @iris873, I used to just use a fan.
