Warning: don't waste money on those cheap dive computer straps
I spent $60 on a 3-pack of no-name rubber straps for my Shearwater off Amazon and three of them snapped on me within six dives in the Gulf. The last one gave out at 30 feet and my computer floated off into the murk. Anyone else lose gear to crappy accessories?

Oh man, that's rough. I've seen people lose entire rigs to cheap hardware before, and it's always the computer or the camera that floats away first. You really have to go with the name brand straps or at least the ones made from something tougher like bungee cord material.

Wait, is it just me or does this apply to basically everything now? I bought a 6-pack of those cheap silicone bands for my Apple Watch and two broke before I even got them on. It's like the whole world switched to making stuff out of recycled cheese or something. You see it with phone cases, laptop chargers, even those little rubber feet on blenders. Everyone wants to save five bucks upfront and ends up losing a hundred bucks in the long run.
