Unpopular opinion: that hydraulic torque wrench on my last job in Galveston was a $4k paperweight
Last Tuesday I was 60 feet down on a platform leg in Galveston Bay, and the torque wrench we rented for $4,200 a week quit holding pressure on the third bolt. I had to finish 11 more bolts by hand with a backup manual wrench, which put us 6 hours behind and the barge crew was not happy. The rental shop blamed us for not purging the lines right, but I watched the gauge fall off a cliff before we even touched water. Any of you had a tool fail that fast, and did your company eat the cost or fight it?
