Overheard a dive supervisor say 'just hold your breath and equalize harder' and I had to walk away
Told a new guy at the docks here in Port Fourchon that forced equalizing is how you blow an eardrum, has anyone else run into supervisors giving dangerous advice like that?

Did he actually say that? Man, I had a guy tell me to "pop my ears like a chip bag" once, just keep blowing harder, and I was like, no thanks, I'd rather not have a perforated eardrum and miss two weeks of work.

Yeah I read somewhere that forcing your ears to pop like that can actually mess up your eustachian tubes long term. People don't realize how easy it is to damage stuff in there, @terryb11.
