My old dive buddy Rick in Galveston told me to ditch the bailout bottle for a spare second stage, and I finally tried it
Honestly I fought him on this for two seasons. He kept saying a spare second stage on a 6 foot hose off your main tank is faster than reaching for a pony bottle when your reg free flows at 60 feet. Last month my primary started breathing wet during a dock inspection and I grabbed the octo instead, took me all of 4 seconds to swap without breaking my working pattern. Ngl I still carry the pony on deeper mud work but for shallow harbor stuff he was right. Anyone else run this setup or am I late to the party?

Didn't some tech diving article call that a "long hose octo" setup years back? I ran a 5 footer off my main tank for a while and yeah, the swap is way smoother than fumbling for a pony.
