Finally got a stuck anchor free after two hours of fighting it in the Columbia River current.

The fluke was wedged under a submerged log and my surface crew couldn't budge it, so I had to rig a 3:1 pulley from the barge's capstan down to the shank, which popped it loose on the first pull once the angle was right.

That pulley trick might be basic, but two hours of fighting a current is a real grind.

Classic case of work smarter, not harder.

Two hours for an anchor? Sounds like a slow day on the water. That pulley trick is basic rigging, not exactly a miracle fix. Seen way worse snags come free with a good jerk on the line. Bet the current did most of the work once you got it angled.
