Rant: I found out a single issue of X-Men #1 from 1991 sold over 8 million copies
I read that in a back issue price guide at my local shop in Fresno last Saturday and it blew my mind, since it means almost every collector my age probably owns one. Does that huge print run make yours feel worthless too, or do you still keep it bagged and boarded anyway?
Did your friend end up keeping his copy after he found out how many were printed? I have a buddy who bought like five copies back in 91 thinking he'd retire off them someday, and when he finally checked the value a few years back he was so bummed he almost tossed the whole stack. He had them in those hard plastic cases and everything, real serious about it. Now they just sit in a shoebox in his garage, but he still won't get rid of them. I get it though, it's not really about the money once something has been in your life that long. Mine stays bagged and boarded mostly because it looks cool, not because I expect it to pay for anything.
