Overheard a guy at the comic shop say the 90s Image comics were 'real art' and I almost lost it

I was at Cosmic Comics on Broad Street last Saturday flipping through some back issues. This dude in a Deadpool hoodie tells his friend that Jim Lee's X-Men run was overrated and that Liefeld's stuff from the 90s is what 'real comic art' looks like. Tbh, I wanted to say something but I just kept quiet. I get that everyone has opinions but those pouches and weird feet? Has anyone else run into fans who act like the 90s boom was the golden age?

Ngl the "real art" part is what gets me. Did he actually say that with a straight face or was he trying to be funny?

Nah I actually think he meant it. Sometimes people just have strong opinions about what they like and it comes out cringey but genuine.
