My longbox gave out on me at the worst possible time...
I was reorganizing my basement last Saturday and went to move my longbox with all my 90s X-Men issues... and the bottom just gave way. Must have been the humidity or just age but the cardboard split right down the middle and about 200 issues went everywhere. I spent the next three hours sorting through them on the floor trying to get them back in order. My issue #266 got a little bent on the corner which still bugs me. I ended up having to buy a new plastic bin from Home Depot for like 15 bucks to hold everything. Has anyone else had an old longbox just fail on them like that?

Yeah, that stinks. I'm surprised more people don't talk about how those things just rot out from the inside. That humidity bit is the real killer. I've seen guys with concrete floors in their basements just let the boxes sit right on the concrete, and the moisture wicks right up through the cardboard. After a few years the bottom's basically a damp sponge. Maybe you should have skipped the bin and just used a milk crate. Stiffer, and you can actually see what's on the bottom without pulling everything out.

Man literally described his old stuff becoming a science experiment in a plastic box. Next thing you know you're gonna pull out a shirt and it's growing its own ecosystem.
