I was at a small con in Omaha and saw a guy just give a kid his extra copy of a key issue for free.

That's the kind of thing that makes me feel bad about the time I haggled a ten year old over a dollar for a beat up copy of X-Force.

Haggling with kids at yard sales is a classic moral trap.

That bit about haggling with kids hits home, @matthew864. I got stuck in that same spot at a flea market last year with a kid selling old video games. He wanted five bucks for a scratched up Mario Kart. I just paid the five and told him to keep the change. The smile was worth way more than the four dollars I could have saved. It feels better to just make the kid's day, especially when it's such a small amount to us. Now I just see it as a tiny investment in not feeling like a jerk later.
