Had to pick between two weekly pull lists and went with the smaller shop
I moved across town 3 months ago and had to decide between this big chain store that had every variant cover in stock and a tiny hole-in-the-wall that barely gets new issues on Wednesdays. The small shop owner actually remembered my name by week two and pulls aside 90s indie runs he thinks I'd like based on what I grab. Anyone else find that the personal touch at a local shop beats having every single comic on release day?

oh totally disagree here, i've been burned too many times by the "friendly owner" act that falls apart when you actually need something specific. if i'm spending my money on comics weekly i want the guaranteed drop on wednesday morning not a polite nod and a stack of old books i didn't ask for. convenience and stock wins every time for me, that personal connection can't replace actually getting the issues i want when they come out.

Fair point @juliahall, but small shops often know about local creator signings before they even hit social media.
