From protector to reader: my shift on comic handling
I used to bag and board every comic, never opening them after purchase. But after loaning a beat-up issue to a friend who got into the series, I saw how sharing stories matters more. Now I think comics are meant to be enjoyed, even if they get a little damaged. What do you all think, keep them perfect or pass them around?

Ever see this with other things people buy just to keep sealed up? I've watched folks do the same with books, games, even fancy kitchen gadgets. They spend money on something but never really use it, worried about keeping it perfect. But the point of most stuff is to be used, right? A little wear means it's actually lived a life, like your comic helping a friend get into the series. Holding onto things too tight can mean missing out on what they're really for.

Totally agree, use your stuff! The_david hit it right with missing out on what things are for. @the_nina had a point about mint condition being overrated if you never enjoy it. I used to keep my comics sealed too, but then I read one and got so much more out of it. A little wear shows it was loved and shared, like passing a comic to a friend. Why buy something if you're not going to use it and have fun with it?

Heard a collector argue that mint condition is overrated if it means never enjoying the thing. It stuck with me, like how @the_david pointed out sealed games and gadgets. Better to have a creased comic that sparked a conversation than a perfect one that didn't.
