Found my first comic book convention badge from 3 years ago cleaning out my closet last week
It was from a tiny show in a VFW hall outside Portland with maybe 30 tables, and I only bought one beat-up silver age Flash issue for $5, but holding that badge made me realize how far I've come in the hobby since then has anyone else kept their first badge?

Funny how we all hang onto that first badge like it's sacred, but nobody ever mentions how the badge itself is basically a glorified sticker on a lanyard. I still have mine too, but only because it's stuck to a magnet on my fridge reminding me that I paid $15 to smell like old paper and regret for a whole afternoon.

3 years ago I found my FIRST badge and it was from a show so small the vendor next to me was trying to sell used Beanie Babies between his long boxes. That Flash issue for $5 sounds like a STEAL though - my first badge got me a mildewed Spider-Man comic that I'm pretty sure had been used as a coaster at some point. Funny how that beat-up book probably means more to you now than any grail you've bought since. I swear half the fun of this hobby is looking back at where you started and laughing at how BASIC your tastes were.

@emery879 you got that backwards though, my first badge was what I bought with the ticket, not the ticket itself.
