Explaining my comic book obsession to family always falls flat.

Any advice on making them see the appeal?

Three years back, I let my brother borrow my Watchmen book. He put his coffee cup on it and left a ring right on the cover. I should have known better, since he still asks if I'm done with my coloring books. In my experience, explaining comics to family is like trying to describe a color to someone who's never seen it. Your mileage may vary, but I've found it's safer to just nod and enjoy the stories on my own.

My friend Mark lent his dad the first TWD trade paperback.

Honestly, that's a risky move. Lending out comics, especially the first trade, can lead to them getting lost or damaged. Plus, TWD is pretty graphic, and not everyone's dad is into that stuff. Mark might regret it if his dad doesn't get it or if he never gets it back. He should have just recommended it instead of handing over the physical copy. It's better to keep your comics safe and share them only with people who really care.
