A kid at the Denver comic con changed how I see collecting
I was at a booth last year looking at some old X-Men books, trying to find a specific issue. A boy, maybe ten, was next to me with his dad, holding a single, not very rare Spider-Man comic. He was so happy with it. I asked if he was looking for anything else, and he said, 'No, this one has my favorite fight in it.' He didn't care about the value or the grade. He just loved the story inside. I had a stack of books in my hand I was buying mostly because they were 'key issues.' It made me stop and think. I've been collecting for fifteen years, but that kid just enjoyed reading. Now I try to remember why I started. Do you ever feel like you lost the simple joy of just reading a good story?
