I finally bought a $9 magnetic tray for my bolts and it changed how I do brakes
I used to drop half the caliper bolts into the gravel working on my 1986 F-150 in the driveway. Six months with that tray and I have not lost a single one, though I still bag and label everything twice because the tray only catches what I actually put in it. Anyone got a trick for keeping track of which bolt goes where when the whole front end is apart?

The tray only works if you're actually putting bolts in it though, and that's the part biting you. I say that because I did the same thing for years, bagging and labeling, and still lost stuff. What actually fixed it for me was a cheap muffin tin from the thrift store. One cup per corner of the truck, front left, front right, and so on, and the bolts go straight in the cup they came from. When you tear down a whole front end you got caliper brackets, slide pins, dust shield bolts, all of it, and they are NOT the same length no matter how much they look alike. Mix up a caliper bolt with a bracket bolt and you will strip threads, I have done it. So skip the labeling, just sort by where it came from while you take it apart.
