Update: I tried a $0.50 experiment with my kid's school lunch and it actually worked
So my 9 year old kept coming home with a full sandwich in her bag. Every day. I was tossing like 5 bucks of food a week. Tried cutting the crust off, tried different bread, nothing. Then 3 weeks ago I just started cutting it into tiny squares, like bite size, and putting it in a container with a lid instead of a bag. She ate the whole thing 4 days out of 5. I know this sounds dumb but it worked. I guess the bag made it feel like a big job? The squares feel like a snack. My wife thinks I'm crazy for even tracking this but I kept a little tally on the fridge. Anyone else got a weird fix for kid lunch leftovers? I'm not trying to win an award here, just tired of throwing out bread.
Picture this: your fridge tally becomes a TED talk and your wife has to introduce you as the "sandwich square guy." Honestly though, cutting it small so it feels like a snack is low key genius.
