Tried both digital and paper planners for 3 months, paper still wins for my ADHD brain

I spent 8 weeks using a fancy planner app on my phone with all these reminders and widgets. Then I switched to a simple $8 spiral notebook from CVS with just a pen. The notebook worked way better because I actually wrote stuff down instead of swiping away notifications. Has anyone else found that going low tech helps them stay organized?

Tbh I just watched a video about how the physical act of writing helps your brain remember stuff better than typing. Something about the motor memory locking it in. That might be why paper works better for you. Also having to physically open the notebook and flip to the right page forces you to actually engage with your planning instead of just glancing at a screen. My therapist actually recommended trying a bullet journal for the same reason and it helped me a ton.

@seanjohnson sounds like your therapist is onto something honestly. i tried bullet journaling once and gave up after three days because my handwriting is basically a medical degree in illegibility. but the motor memory thing makes sense - i still remember how to write cursive from 4th grade but forgot what i watched on youtube 20 minutes ago. maybe i should try again but with fewer expectations of artistic bullet points.
