I switched my vote from the school bond to the road bond after a 40 minute city council meeting in Mesa
The bond guy kept saying "we owe it to the kids" while the road guy brought a map with 11 cracked intersections circled, so I backed the pavement and my street got repaved within 8 months, but now I'm wondering if I sold out the schools for a smooth drive, so where do you draw the line on potholes vs. textbooks?
So you traded algebra for asphalt and honestly the pothole lobby has better visuals, a map with 11 cracked intersections beats a sad powerpoint any day. Eight months for a repave is crazy fast though, half the time my street just gets a fresh coat of tar and a shrug from the city. The thing is the bond guy should've brought his own map, like here's the school with the leaking roof and the 30 year old science lab, and maybe you'd feel worse about your vote. You didn't sell out the schools, you just got out-pitched, because pavement is easy to see and a kid learning to read isn't. Next bond cycle go to the meeting with a photo of the moldy ceiling tile in the cafeteria and see if that moves you more than a cracked intersection.
