Appreciation post: I spent 2 years arguing politics online before I checked my own town's council minutes
For 2 years I was in Reddit threads every night fighting about national stuff, and then last month I sat through a 90 minute city council meeting about a $1.8 million roundabout near my own street. The thing that tipped me off was realizing I couldn't name a single person on that council, but I knew every senator's voting record by heart.
