Wasted $30 on a fancy coffee bean subscription that I hated

I signed up for a $30 monthly subscription from some roaster I saw on Instagram and every bag tasted burnt or sour. After three months I canceled and realized I could have just bought the same beans from my local shop for half the price. Has anyone else had luck with those small batch subscriptions or am I better off sticking with the store?

Yeah but you paid for the hype not the coffee. Those Instagram roasters know how to market but can't roast to save their lives. Stick with the local shop, at least you can smell the beans before you buy.
