Unpopular opinion: I was wrong about pre-ground coffee for cold brew
After a friend in Austin made a batch with fresh beans ground coarse, the flavor was so much brighter. Anyone have a good burr grinder under $100 they'd recommend?

Oh wow, that's interesting. I always thought pre-ground was fine for cold brew since it sits so long. Was the difference mostly in like, a fruitier taste or something? I'm trying to picture what "brighter" means for a cold brew, which I usually think of as just smooth and strong. Maybe it's less muddy?

Yeah, it's way less muddy for sure.

Muddy is the perfect word for it, @jadeg99.
