The whole AeroPress hype seemed like overpriced plastic until I brewed my first cup with it

I was dead set against spending $40 on what looked like a fancy syringe, but after my buddy from work brought his to the jobsite last Thursday and made a cup that tasted way smoother than my French press ever did, I grabbed one on my way home that night - has anyone else gone from hater to full convert on a coffee gadget like this?

...and my buddy Jim literally laughed at me for years about my old drip machine. He's one of those guys who takes coffee way too seriously, you know, grinds his own beans and measures everything out on a scale. I always thought he was just being a snob about it. But then he showed up at my place one Saturday morning with that thing and made me a cup without asking, just handed it to me like it was no big deal. Tasted like something from an actual coffee shop and I had to admit he was right for once, which hurt my pride a little to be honest.

My buddy Dave had a similar thing happen with his neighbor and a French press... He still gets embarrassed talking about it.
