Talked to a cafe owner in Portland that changed how I see my pour-over routine

I was at a small shop near Hawthorne last weekend and the owner told me I've been grinding way too coarse for my V60. She said most home brewers use a setting that's two steps finer than what they think is right. Now I'm questioning every cup I've made for the last 3 years. Has anyone else had a stranger give them coffee advice that actually hit?

Same thing happened to me last month, totally humbling.

Oh man, I was definitely in the "grind coarser" camp for years. Thought I was being all fancy and avoiding over-extraction. Tried finer last week after hearing similar advice and it's like a whole new flavor world opened up. I owe that random stranger an apology.
