Switched from medium roast to light roast and finally get what the fuss is about
I was a medium roast guy for like 8 years. Thought light roast was just sour and weak. Then a barista at my local shop in Austin talked me into trying a Kenya Nyeri from their pourover menu. First sip hit me with this big blueberry note I never knew coffee could have. After that I bought a bag of light roast beans and changed my whole brewing routine. Now I go with a 1:16 ratio and a 205 degree water temp instead of my old way. Anyone else made the switch from medium to light and had the same moment?

And my tastebuds finally woke up after years of being asleep.

Right there with you man. Quit smoking two years ago and suddenly everything tasted like actual food again. Couldn't believe what I was missing. Went from eating just to survive to actually craving flavors. Even plain rice tastes different now. Wild how much we take for granted when our senses are dulled.
