Overheard a guy at a local roastery say pour over is dead
I was picking up a bag of beans at Blue Bottle in Brooklyn last Saturday and some guy told the barista that pour overs are just a fad that's dying out. He was dead serious too, said espresso machines are the only way to go. Am I crazy for thinking pour over still has a place, or is it just me clinging to old habits?

Oh man, I actually used to think pour over was just a hipster phase too! But then I tried a really good one at a friend's place and it totally changed my mind. I agree with luna589, they are just two different things. Pour over gives you this clean, bright flavor that espresso just can't match, and espresso gives you that thick, concentrated shot. I think both have their place and it's silly to say one is dead when people clearly love both for different reasons.

My friend swore by espresso until she tried my pour-over and bought a V60 the next day haha.
