My kettle ran dry at 2am and the smell woke up my whole apartment
I was doing a pour over at home in Portland around 2am after a rough shift and I walked away from my gooseneck kettle for maybe 4 minutes. Came back to a metal smell and a dry pot with the bottom turning brown. I unplugged it fast, opened every window even though it was 40 degrees out, and soaked the kettle in white vinegar for an hour. The temp control still works but the bottom looks scorched and I do not trust it for light roasts anymore. Now I set a timer on my phone every single time, no exceptions. How do you all keep track of your water without staring at the kettle the whole time?
