My drip coffee station turned into a pour-over shrine by accident

I got a $35 gooseneck kettle last spring just to stop overpouring my old electric kettle. Then I bought a $18 ceramic dripper online, then a scale that reads to 0.1 grams. Last week I counted 6 different brew tools on my counter and only 1 of them is a machine. My automatic drip maker has been unplugged for 2 months because the ritual got more interesting than convenience. I still think normal coffee is fine, but I keep chasing that sweet spot where the bloom looks right. Has anyone else slid from basic drip into manual brewing without planning it? What pulled you down the rabbit hole fastest?

The part about chasing the sweet spot on the bloom got me. I read somewhere that the bloom is where most of the flavor gets locked in or lost. That one fact made me ditch my auto drip cold turkey. Now I'm timing every pour like it's a science experiment.
