My coworker's fancy coffee setup triggered a building evacuation drill

So, Dave in marketing got a new pour-over kit with a gooseneck kettle and a scale. He insisted on doing his morning brew at his desk, not in the kitchen. The kettle steam set off the super sensitive smoke detector right above his cubicle. Next thing we know, the whole floor is filing out for an unscheduled fire drill. Our manager was not happy, standing outside in the cold. Dave just stood there, holding his perfectly brewed cup, saying it was worth it. We all had to delay our first meetings because of the whole thing. Honestly, it was the most exciting start to a Wednesday we've had in months.

What's the office record for most expensive cup of coffee? Dave's must be up there if you factor in the lost work time from that drill. My own coffee crime was using the last pod without making a new box, which caused a minor mutiny. Dave out here causing full scale evacuations. At least his was good, mine was just weak and selfish.

Honestly, that perfect cup was probably the only thing stopping Dave from getting fired on the spot.

Man, I've seen this play out before. Honestly, bad coffee can sink office morale faster than a crashed server. If someone's only good quality is making a decent pot, they need to step up their actual work game quick. That coffee goodwill runs out fast when deadlines get missed. Tell Dave to learn the new database system or start updating his resume.
