Mugs used to keep coffee hot, now they're for photos

I had a simple mug that did its job perfectly. Now, every mug I see is meant for pictures. Do you care if your mug looks good or works well?

Totally agree about mugs being for photos now. My old simple mug worked GREAT, but now everyone wants these fancy ones that look good but don't keep heat.

Seriously, I read this thing about how the glaze on fancy mugs can actually mess with heat retention. (Something about it being too smooth or something.) They said that older, simpler mugs often have a rougher finish that holds heat better. It's all about looks over function now, which is a shame.

My grandpa had this beat up mug with a faded fishing logo. The design wore off but that thing kept coffee hot for hours. New mugs are all looks, no staying power.
