Just wasted $45 on a 'premium' coffee subscription that sent me stale beans
I signed up for a 3-month plan with a company called BeanBox after seeing their ads everywhere. The first bag arrived and the roast date was over 8 weeks old, and the coffee tasted flat and lifeless. I'm out the money and stuck with two more bags I don't even want to open. Has anyone found a reliable local roaster in Phoenix that ships fresh?

That "roast date was over 8 weeks old" is a total scam for a premium service. You're paying for fresh coffee, not old stock. I'd blast them on social media and try to get a refund. For Phoenix, Cartel Coffee Lab ships fresh and their roast dates are always recent.

Honestly that take is way too harsh. Some of the best coffee I've had was rested for a few weeks, it lets the flavors mellow out. Not every roaster aims for super bright and acidic. Calling it a scam for a premium service ignores different brewing styles, like espresso often uses older beans. Blasting them online over a preference seems like an overreaction.
